Subscription Changes at OneGreatFamily

Subscription Changes:

OneGreatFamily intends to stop offering monthly and quarterly subscriptions on a regular basis. That means new subscribers to OneGreatFamily will only be able to sign up for a full year. Most importantly, anyone with a monthly or a quarterly will be unaffected—they will continue with their current arrangement as long as they don't cancel.

What does this mean to our affiliates? Higher commissions! Your average order size will increase significantly, so your commission will be higher. We have been running A/B testing on our site and have found a significant boost to revenue when offering the yearly subscription only, so we fully anticipate that you will see the same results.

This also creates a promotional opportunity for you with your traffic. Many people have been debating signing up for a monthly or a quarterly. Let them know the chance is going away soon, so they better act now. Leverage this opportunity to take full advantage of our Affiliate Promotion.

When does this go into effect? We originally announced the change to go into effect May 29th. However, we want each of you to have a chance to promote this change to your traffic, so we are extending the deadline to June 13th. That will give you a couple weeks to promote this to your customer base. We would suggest pushing this especially hard the weekend of June 11-12.

Why are we making this change? Three reasons: First, we have found that it takes time for new customers to gain the full value of what OneGreatFamily has to offer to their genealogy. Many customers get a big hit right upfront, but don’t take time to experience real collaboration or to see the power of leveraging other genealogists’ efforts over time. A month or even three months is just too short a period.

Second, it makes the sign-up decision more straightforward, increasing the trial sign up rate. Many customers get hung up trying to decide between monthly, quarterly and annual subscriptions. So they postpone the decision to think about it more.

Third, annual subscriptions really do represent the best value for our customers. An annual subscription only costs $6.25 a month, compared to $14.99 for a monthly or $10.00 per month for a quarterly.

Last but not least, many customers are really put off by automatic monthly renewals. They pay for several months, then realize they have been paying all this time and then they get upset. Under an annual subscription, they receive a reminder two weeks prior to automatic renewal – giving them a reminder to cancel should they wish to do so.

We believe that by making this change it will benefit our members in their genealogy and having more success in finding others who are searching for their ancestors.

We at OneGreatFamily are having a lot of success right now. April was our highest revenue month ever. We recently saw the ComScore traffic numbers for the genealogy market, and we rank third on the list right after MyFamily and the LDS Church.

But most importantly for you, our Affiliate metrics have been improving. Our 3 month EPC has gone from $0.80 in June 2004 to $1.70 in April. Our goal is to keep driving and improving our metrics by improving the quality of our service and our messaging explaining our product.

Also, our development team is currently working on some new products and services that will create more revenue opportunities for you. Watch for our announcements in the coming months.
